Saddle up with our great leather saddle bags

A new saddle with an old-school feeling

Looking to upgrade your bike and make it stand out? Our durable, stylish leather saddles are just what you need! Try them on your next bike trip - you’ll wonder how you ever lived without them! We’ve got a range of models and colors, so we’re sure you’ll find the perfect saddle for your bike.

Breaking in your saddle

It takes a bit of time and patience to break in a leather saddle. The bottom of the saddle is first coated with leather grease. The leather on the upper side of the saddle needs to be smoothed after about 8 hours of contact time, as the leather fibers stick together due to lack of moisture or aging and cause it to harden. To smoothen the saddle, you can use a hammer handle or knead it vigorously with your hands. Wait 30 minutes and then break the saddle in (we recommend wearing old pants while you're doing this). Afterwards, the top should be treated again with grease and left overnight. The next day, the excess grease can be removed and you can use the saddle again. You can repeat this process several times, if necessary.

Leather care

We recommend that you purchase a saddle that is ergonomically fitted to your seating position, so that you’re comfortable when cycling. The cushioned saddle can be used straight away, all of the others should be broken in. It takes a bit of time and patience to break in a leather saddle. It’s important to grease your saddle well when you first buy it, we recommend wearing an old pair of trousers while you’re doing this to avoid staining your clothes. Greasing your saddle regularly means that you’ll be able to enjoy it for years to come. This keeps the leather soft and smooth. Don’t forget to put a protective cover over your saddle if you leave your bike outside. A leather saddle that has already been treated and broken in should be treated with saddle grease every 2 to 3 months. This is sufficient greasing to keep the leather soft. If the saddle is exposed to a lot of moisture, the leather must be greased again after a thorough drying with leather care.

Comfortable, convenient, fair.

All Gusti Leather products are manufactured under fair production conditions. Our “Gusti Leder nature” brand is handmade by small family businesses in India. We only use goatskin leather, which is tanned using vegetable-based tanning products, like bark, and then dried in the sun. These products will win you over with their retro charm. The “Gusti Leder studio” products will enchant you with their modern look and will also attract lovers of the classic style. The products in this range use buffalo, cowhide and goatskin leather, which are chemically tanned using Chrome III. Our accessories are manufactured by certified factories in India and Italy, which adhere to international working standards. We regularly test our laboratories to ensure that you’re getting high quality leather products.
