Buffalo leather overview
Buffalo leather comes from swamp or river buffalo. Swamp buffalo are bred in Asia, while river buffalo mainly come from Europe and North America.
Buffalo leather characteristics and uses
Buffalo leather is robust and durable. This type of leather is often used for aniline leather, due to its open, coarser porosity. As buffalo leather ages, it bleaches and becomes susceptible to stains. It typically becomes shiny and speckled. Buffalo leather is often used to upholster furniture or create accessories, like bags.
It is characterized by its coarse grain structure; you can see the hair pores are visible on the right-hand side of the picture above.
