Dedication that pays off: the perfect start with your new Gusti Leather saddle

One thing, before we start: Leather saddles are the ultimate in comfort and unique fit. However, you need to break in your new leather saddle to ensure that it’s comfortable for you—this is especially true for our saddles without suspension. Breaking your saddle in can take between 150 and 500 km, depending on the saddle and how regularly you use it. It sounds like a lot, but if you break the distance down, take your commute to work, for example, this process doesn’t take much time and is relatively painless.

It’s important that you prep your saddle using leather grease before your first ride. You can find loads of great information about how to do this online. There’s no “right” way to do it. But we suggest that you don’t wear your favorite jeans while you’re breaking in your saddle. In addition to this, you should grease your saddle regularly, depending on how often you use your bike, as this helps keep the leather soft and supple and means you can enjoy your saddle for years to come. If you leave your bike outside, don’t forget to protect your leather saddle with a rain cover to stop it from absorbing extra water.

Goatskin leather, cowhide leather, or buffalo leather: which should you choose?

Our saddles come in three different types of leather. You can choose between different styles of saddle as well as different types of leather:

Goatskin leather is a little more rigid at first, but if you use these saddles regularly, they’ll soften quickly. Our products made of cowhide or buffalo leather are stronger than those made of goatskin leather due to the nature of the material. This leather maintains its rigid structure and softens naturally over time. Decide for yourself which leather best meets your needs.

Transparent production: for you from Gusti Leather

Our product lines are just as diverse as our product range. The saddles in our “Gusti Leather nature” brand are all about sustainability. This is because this range only features Gusti Leather products that are manufactured by small family businesses in India using traditional, handmade vegetable-tanned goatskin leather. Individuality and uniqueness ring true here—each product is a complete one of a kind.

The saddles in our “Gusti Leather studio” brand will win you over with their functionality and timeless urban style—very on-trend! The leather products in this range are chemically tanned using chromium salts, making them particularly sturdy and durable.

Gusti Leather only works with companies in India and Italy that meet international labor and human rights standards. In order to ensure the consistent high-quality of our leather products, we regularly conduct random spot checks in our independent laboratories and carry out unannounced visits to the work areas, during which compliance with contractually defined production and labor standards is checked. If these standards are being violated, we act in accordance with our zero-tolerance policy and immediately terminate contracts with these companies.

Gusti Leather saddles: always the best choice!

Our leather saddles are high-quality, sturdy, and durable. Once you’ve broken them in, your cycling experience will be better than ever. We’ve summarized the most important features of our Gusti Leather saddles for you below to make sure that you don’t get overwhelmed by all of our cycling equipment and choose the best product for you:

  • Gusti Leather saddles adapt to your body shape and offer you ultimate comfort when sitting on your bike. That means, no more numb bums. We promise.
  • Leather saddles look fantastic when compared with other types of saddle. A leather saddle looks high-quality and chic on any type of bike, from retro bikes to modern Dutch bikes.
