Liming

The liming process separates the hair from the hides in the leather production process. The hides and pelts are soaked in a mixture of lime and sodium sulfide. This procedure is used if the manufacturer doesn’t want to compromise the hairs or wants to remove the hair quickly. The liming mixture can be applied to the flesh side or the grain side of the leather, depending on whether the hairs need to be maintained.
